During the first week of November, the Logan County FFA chapter took a trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn. for a group leadership retreat as opposed to the normal, National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis. This trip was put together entirely by the chapter’s senior officers.
The group had a chapter-wide costume contest and a sunrise Bible study (led by our chapter’s chaplain, Madelyn Hughes). They also hiked Laurel Falls and had a picnic at the base of the falls. The group also went to the Dolly Parton Stampede Christmas show where they were able to get the thrill of a true Pigeon Forge dinner show.
The FFA chapter also went to The Island where they were able to experience a high rope course, mirror mazes, and many famous Gatlinburg shops. On top of all of this, Remington Seed of Russellville and First Southern National Bank helped to sponsor the leadership retreat.
For many of these members, it was the first time that they’ve ever been to the Smoky Mountains. This group of young adults were beyond grateful for the opportunity they earned to be a part of this retreat. Not only did this group have lots of fun and have lots of laughs, they made memories which will last a lifetime.
