Brian Harris has been SKYCTC's High School & Minority Recruiter for the past two years and works with the school’s Admissions team.
“You may see Brian giving a tour, presenting in a classroom, or talking to students about what opportunities are available at SKYCTC,” says Brendy Rivera-Escobar, SKYCTC’s Digital Marketing Coordinator.
Brian is a graduate of Russellville High School where he was active in sports and extracurricular activities. He was a Dean’s List student at Western Kentucky University.
When asked what Black History means to him, Harris said, “Black History is a reminder that despite the struggles African Americans have faced, we have managed to make a lasting impact on our world." Some advice that he would give to people starting their careers or wanting to become a leader is to "have a growth mindset and learn as much a you can."
Meanwhile, Brian Harris is still celebrating the remarkable recovery of his beloved sister, Dominica Flowers, from life-threatening cancer.
She was a recent outstanding RHS graduate who had earned an impressive college scholarship before being struck with cancer. She was hospitalized and treated in Lexington for months, and many Russellvillians were deeply concerned about her prospects for recovery.
“Dominica was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in August 2022 and went into remission in May 2023. We really appreciate the prayers and support!” Brian tells The LoJo.
She is now thriving in college while her brother is helping many other minority students start their pathway to success through higher and technical education.
