The July meeting of the Logan County Farm Bureau Federation was held at the Schochoh Community Center. The Farm Bureau Young Farmers grilled ribeye steak sandwiches to complement the potluck meal. Several elected officials were in attendance.
This annual picnic event gives Farm Bureau an opportunity to express their appreciation to those who hold office, for the work they do on behalf of farmers and agriculture in general.
The elected officials were given an opportunity to speak on subjects that were of interest and concern to those present. Everyone had an opportunity to discuss issues in a relaxed setting.
Following the meal, President Jeremy Robertson conducted the Farm Bureau July business meeting. Preliminary plans were made for the annual meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Extension Office. Lee Ann Martin was introduced as the new Agriculture/Natural Resource Extension Agent. Lee Ann expressed her appreciation for her new career and is looking forward to serving as the Extension Agent for Logan County.
Jay Campbell introduced Wesley Estes as the new 2014-2015 Logan County FFA President. Wesley thanked Farm Bureau for the chance to attend this year’s Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL) at the University of Kentucky. He stated he appreciates the opportunity to attend the monthly Farm Bureau board meetings as the new FFA President and honorary board member.
