The Russellville Lions Club will again present a variety music show at the Historic Logan County Courthouse on Saturday, Aug. 23. The doors will open at 2 p.m. with the concert beginning at 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be over 30 local musicians and singers on the program. Different music sounds and styles of barbershop, country, bluegrass, and gospel will be presented. The program will be in the upper courthouse room.
Lions Club members are selling $10 tickets now. They will also be available at Freeland Chrysler & Dodge, and Steve Stuart at First Southern National Bank in the Bethel Shopping Center. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the concert. Lion Mark Wilkins is the ticket sales manager.
The Lions Club will be selling their popular pork chop sandwiches and Snax Paxs on the front lawn. Tents, chairs, and tables will be seen and available for the public to enjoy their meal during the concert. Soft drinks and bottle water will also be sold.
The Friends of the Library support group will be there again in the downstairs’ lobby with their delicious treats. Pies, cakes, brownies, muffins, fried pies, etc. will be available.
Chairs and tables will be set up in the lobby area for the public to enjoy their various baked goods in individual servings as well.
This concert is an annual fundraiser for the Lions Club and used to fund their projects and activities in the community. Eye glasses for the needy and eye exams with a special camera for pre-school children are some of their projects.
Pete Lehman is the event chairman; Boyd Hammond is the Lion President. Concert emcees are Brent Summers and Nick Rice. Lions Logan Chick and J.T. Taylor head the cooking crew. Carl Foster is the advertising chairman.
