Ventra Plastics first to receive major state award

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes will be in Logan County next Wednesday to present a first-of-a-kind award to a Russellville industry.

Grimes will present the inaugural Corporations for the Commonwealth award for a civic-oriented large business to Ventra Plastics, a Canadian-based manufacturer in Logan County.

Corporations for the Commonwealth, a program Grimes launched earlier this year, recognizes entucky businesses that demonstrate a commitment to corporate giving, a drive to improved local and/or regional social conditions, and a culture of giving within their organizations.

Ventra Plastics General Manager Ron Barbe, who generally takes the forefront in Ventra’s many community-minded endeavors, will receive the award. Judge Executive Logan Chick and Russellville Mayor Mark Stratton will join Grimes recognizing Ventra for its contributions to the community.

Ventra Plastics is located in Russellville’s industrial park at 140 Progress Drive off the Hopkinsville Road. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m.
