At the June regular Russellville Independent School Board meeting, two employees were recognized for their years of service and honored as they prepare to begin their retirement.
Shelly Greene, Stevenson Elementary 5th Grade teacher, retired at the end of this school year. A 1970 graduate of Russellville High School, she has taught for 27 years.
District Food Service Director Elaine Dixon will officially retire at the end of August, after serving 20 years. She is an Adairville native.
Although unable to attend, Barry Pitts, was recognized for 20 years of service in maintenance.
Each was presented a lovely clock indicating appreciation for time well-spent with the District.
Recent RHS graduate Johnea Pendleton, a RJSHS Ambassador, was recognized as the first recipient of the James C. Milam Service Award. This award will become an annual event. Mr. Milam, who is the long-time chair of the board of education, helped present the award.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Smith has announced that Lisa Cox has been hired as the new food service director, replacing Dixon. She has been employed as food service manager at Russellville Junior Senior High School for three years. Prior to her employment in the Russellville School District, she had 17 years of experience with Auburn Hosiery Mills in accounts payable, cost accounting and inventory control.
“Congratulations to Lisa for her hard work and exemplary job performance and her promotion as food service director,” Smith said.
