After 15 years of serving the students of Logan County, Ralph Cropper will attend his last meeting tonight as a member of the Logan County Board of Education.
Cropper was appointed to the board 15 years ago when Lewisburg representative Malia Harris resigned to begin a career as a teacher. He was then elected to serve four-year terms three times.
He has worked with three superintendents—Marshall Kemp, Dr. Kevin Hub and incumbent Paul Mullins. Lewisburg School has had four principals during his tenure—Mullins, Barry Nelson, Randy Marcum and currently Josh Matthews.
“We have made tremendous progress over these years,” Cropper tells The LoJo. “This includes SAC’s accreditation for all schools, achievement as a distinguished district on KPREP tests. And Lewisburg School continuing to grow and improve.”
Board Chair Kenny Robertson, who plans to recognize Cropper’s service tonight, says, “I have enjoyed working with Ralph these past 15 years. He has a special ability to be insightful and ask the right questions with a focus on best interests of children. Those are admirable traits for a school board member.”.
A graduate of Chandlers School, Cropper has worked for Logan Aluminum or its co-owner Novelis for 31 years. He is current Global Quality Manager for Novelis.
Ralph Cropper is married to the former Fayetta Price, a Lewisburg native who is retired from Auburn Banking Company.
Teresa Hendrix, an officer with Lewisburg Banking Company, will become Lewisburg’s representative to the county school board in January.
