On Friday, Sept. 29, Adairville School received a make-over on their outdoor classroom thanks to their very own Lighthouse Leader team. The Lighthouse Leaders are a group of students who applied, interviewed, and were accepted to be on a team dedicated to being servant-leaders within the Adairville School and community.

Their sponsor, Amanda Robey, a parent volunteer, gave the charge for the Lighthouse Leaders to decide and plan their first community project for the school year. Unanimously, they agreed to spruce up the outdoor classroom. Once they decided on their project, their next steps were to organize and implement the plan, and that is exactly what they did.

Several members of the Lighthouse Leader team (Colin Williams, Joshua Lawrence, Whitley Robey, Seth Graves, John Ross Terry, Eva Bouldin, Ella Violette, Carlie Hunt, Addie Corder, Makena Hinton, Bella Gaddis, Ty'Keria Mason, Manon Kondracki, Isaac Poe, Grace Ann Warren, and Avery Beason) decided to complete their vision on the first day of fall break.

They arrived at Adairville School at 9 a.m. and began their work. They cleaned, fixed, and painted the picnic tables. With the help of Mrs. Robey and Mr. Jonathan Stovall, Adairville School’s assistant principal, they replaced the boards on several of the benches, and they raked and cleaned up the entire outdoor classroom area.

The students dedicated several hours of their time to complete this project. Mrs. Robey stated how impressed she was with the dedication and follow through with this young group of students, “Our students chose a project that mattered to them, and they saw how completing it would improve our school and community. I’m very proud of our students and their initiative to complete our first Lighthouse Leader project.”

This project involved funding to paint and fix the picnic tables and benches. The Lighthouse Leader team collaborated with Adairville School’s PTO to provide the materials needed to complete this project. Thanks to Adairville School’s Lighthouse Leaders and PTO, Adairville students will be able to enjoy classroom activities and lunch outside now.

Adairville School would like to send a big thank you to their Lighthouse Leaders and their PTO!
