Logan County High School juniors Tanner Morrow and Louis Scott have qualified for the Governor’s Cup state competition following their outstanding performances at recent district and regional meets. Morrow placed second in Social Studies at both the district and regional meets. Scott finished third in Science at the district level and fifth at regionals. Students finishing in the top five of their respective subject areas at regionals qualify for the state round.

The school’s Quick Recall Team also had a strong showing at the regional meet, finishing in fourth place. Fourth place out of the eight teams in the competition was good enough to come away with a trophy but fell just short of advancement to the next round. Quick Recall team members are as follows: Benjamin Meyer- team captain, Skylar McLevain, Sylas Morris, Tanner Morrow, Daniel Ruiz and Louis Scott.

The Kentucky Governor’s Cup competition was founded in 1986 as a means to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement. It is considered to be the state’s premier academic event. This year’s finals round is scheduled for March 17-19 and will be held at the Galt House in Louisville.

The LCHS Academic Team is sponsored by Mr. Harvey Harris and Mr. John Hughes.
