If they hadn’t known before last Saturday, the members of the Russellville High School Book Club surely learned what “so many books, so little time” literally means. On Saturday, April 20, the Book Club traveled to the Nashville Public Library where they spent hours touring the three-floor content.
The students could read from thousands of books, entertain themselves at the teen center, create objects using a 3D printer, and scour historic archives. It is safe to say the library is a nexus between those who enjoy reading and others who seek to satiate their curiosity.
After its closing, the students traveled to McKay’s Bookstore. This building’s modest exterior didn’t compare to its extravagant interior. Hordes of people crowded inside the book store. The amount of people was almost unbelievable.
Every member of the Book Club spread out far and wide, digging through the mountains of inexpensive books of great quality, vinyl recordings, CD’s, action figures, comic-books, and some students were able to sell their books to the store. It was a dreamland full of affordable items that many of the students took home with them.
The field trip was an amazing experience, and the number of students greatly showed how much Russellville’s students care about preserving the arts!
