Logan County High School in conjunction with Logan County Career and Technical Center is pleased to announce the creation of a new career pathway option for our students. The schools will be offering a career pathway in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). This program will be presented by instructors from Com Care Inc.
In order to be eligible for the program students must meet the following criteria: They must have completed the Principles of Healthcare and Medical Terminology classes at the LCTC with a B or higher. They must be 18 when they finish the program. The program is open to students in both the Junior and Senior classes. As part of the curriculum of the pathway the students will participate in an ambulance ride along as well as patient contact hours.
Upon completion of the program students will be eligible to sit for the certification exam. If they pass the exam requirements they will be both nationally registered as well as state emergency certified medical technicians. There will be no cost to the students to sit for these exams, it is a part of the pathway program.
Elizabeth Frogue, principal of the Logan County Career and Technical Center, says, “We are excited to be able to add this program to the existing programs here at LCTC. We continue to try to expand our program offerings and offer more career pathways for our students. Our goal is to have our students leave high school with job certifications that prepare them to go directly into the job force and be successful.”
Upon completion of the program and successful certification the students will be able to interview for jobs as a licensed EMT.
