Campbell, Rayno & Kash win Steer Show honors

The Logan County 4H/FFA Steer Show and Carcass contest had their 30-year celebration at this year’s events. There were 20 exhibitors and 42 steers weighed; each weighing anywhere between 600-800 pounds. A few of Logan County’s FFA members competed and did very well! The steers were weighed in on June 3. Following the weigh-in was the show at the extension arena. After the show, was the showmanship competition.

Jailyn Campbell is a senior at Logan County and is serving as the 2019-2020 FFA 3rd Vice President. Her steer sold for $4.75 per pound and was bought by PtL She earned the title of Reserve Grand Champion.

Corbin Rayno, a freshman FFA member, had a steer that sold for $2.20 per pound and was bought by H&H Sheet Metal. He also received the title of Reserve Logan Proud.

Thomas Kash’s steer won the weight-gain competition. His steer gained just over four pounds per day from the initial weigh-in day to the final weigh-in. Thomas is a junior FFA member at Logan County and is also a captain of the football team.

The Carcass Contest results will be released on Sept. 14 at the Logan County Cattleman’s Association’s 3rd quarter meeting on Dec. 7 will be the first weigh-in for the 2020 show season.
