While numerous items in education are unsettled this time of year (legislation, assessments for next year, etc.), one thing remains consistent – Our commitment to helping students reach their potential. Below you will find several items that demonstrate our efforts ensure each child’s needs are met, along with lists of recent accomplishments by LCHS students and staff me

Scheduling for 2017-18 (from the guidance department)

Guidance counselors are going to meet with each student and his/her parents individually to discuss important items, develop a personalized schedule, and answer any questions. Scheduling for the 2017-2018 school year will take place during the following weeks in April/May:

Week of April 17th—Rising seniors (Class of 2018) will register

Week of April 24th—Rising juniors (Class of 2019) will register

Week of May 1st – Rising sophomores (Class of 2020) will register

Students will receive registration materials during the week of April 10th. They will need to bring these materials completed to their appointments.

Scheduling appointments may be made now. To make an appointment parents need to call Misty Latham at 270-726-8454 or email her at misty.latham@logan.kyschools.us  in order to schedule an appointment with the guidance counselors to make their child’s schedule.  Both the parent and the child need to be present at this meeting.  If parents have more than one child attending LCHS next year in grades 10-12, please let Mrs. Latham know when you are scheduling your appointment.

Students in the news

·  John Hendricks won the Optimist Club essay contest recently. His essay now goes to the regional competition for a chance to win a $2500 college scholarship.

Student-athlete update (from Coach Greg Howard)

We have started the LCHS “Giving Back Campaign.” One of the first ventures took place this week as members of our softball and baseball teams traveled to Chandlers to read to their students. We are also starting up a “Leadership” campaign for both coaches and our athletes. Coaches will be involved and take part in teaching these skills to our athletes on a more specific level beyond their teams. In order for Logan County Athletics to advance our place in the lives’ of our athletes and to move them towards greatness our level of involvement must also increase.
