The Logan County Chapter of the Young Farmers raised money for the Young Farmer Scholarship by hosting the Young Farmer Golf Scramble at Rolling Hills golf course on Saturday, July 29. We were fortunate to have 11 teams to participate and contribute to the Young Farmer Scholarship program.
The Young Farmer Scholarships were awarded this year to Andrew Milam and DJ Price who plan to begin classes this fall at WKU Agriculture.
The first-place team consisted of Adam Switzer, Gerry Switzer, Clay Wagoner, and Kelly Jordan.
The second place team consisted of Jordan Walker, Dustin Epley, Mark Coles and Rian Williams.
The third-place team consisted of Luke Burchett, Cody Poole, Tony Stratton.
Prizes were awarded to the top three teams in the amounts of $600, $400 and $200. The longest drive by Chad Bewly and closest to the pin by Mark Coles were awarded their registration fee.
The sponsors include H&R Agri-Power, Lewisburg Bank, Southern States and Armistead Farms. Farm Credit Services of Mid America sponsored a hole and provided snacks for participants at Hole 2.
The Young Farmers were grateful to have Farm Credit representatives Jennifer Ferris and Brandon Harris on-site to reward those who met the Farm Credit golf challenges with various Farm Credit prizes. The Young Farmers shared a meal together at the conclusion of the scramble which was prepared by Logan County Young Farmer Director Lance Lockhart of Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College.
Plans are being made for the 4th annual Young Farmer Golf Scramble at Rolling Hills for the 4th Saturday in July 2018. Sponsors and Ag businesses of Logan County are welcome to sponsor a hole or sponsor a team to participate in next year’s big event. The Young Farmer Chapter of Logan County welcomes you to participate in the golf fun and fellowship.
