Reading on the Rise!

Russellville Jr./Sr. HS has made it abundantly clear that reading is a big deal at both the Middle and High schools. The Middle School has recently adapted the Accelerated Reader program and the competition for top class in terms of AR points earned is underway. The 7th Grade took the midterm honors for the 2nd quarter and enjoys the fruits of a rewards day on Friday.

MS Book Club Reading Wonder

The Middle School Book Club has been reading the book “Wonder”. The books, provided by the Russellville READS Grant, have been a major success with students. As a reward for completing the book, the Club will travel to BG to watch the movie.

Russellville Student Success at Gatton Academy

Russellville HS’s Phillip Wilkerson who attends the prestigious Gatton Academy, was a team member for the GA Robotics Team that took Best Creative Design at WKU’s Engineering Outreach High School Robotics.

Panthers Visit WKU

More than 20 RHS students traveled to WKU to get a taste of college life. The students led by teacher Vicky Mathis and Juli Link, and working in conjunction with GREEC’s Lisa Priddy, were exposed to the campus, the possibilities for the many majors available, and the options available to them through Dual Credit learning.

Russellville JROTC Honor Veterans and Recruits 8th Graders

This past Friday, the Russellville JROTC, in conjunction with Logan County JROTC, participated in a ceremony honoring local Veterans. The two schools, which form a single JROTC unit, presented arms and displayed several of their formational designs. In addition to this, through the efforts of RHS JROTC’s own Noah Brown, an effort to get 8th graders involved has come to realization. Started last month, 8th Graders interested in participating in JROTC are now able to travel to LCHS with the RHS JROTC students once each month to participate in drill work, formational expectations, and become generally inundated to the JROTC program.
