Last Week Before the Break

It’s the final week before the break! This weekend gave us a teaser of snow and just invigorated the itch for the holidays. But before we go careening out the doors this coming Friday, there are lots of happenings at Russellville Junior and Senior High School! Here is hoping that each and every one of our Panther Family finishes strong and has a blessed week!

English as a Second Language (ESL) Exiting Awards this Week

On Friday, at 1:45 in the deGraffenried Auditorium, under the direction of ESL teacher Griselda Vargas, five students will exit the ESL program for RHS. These students have displayed a mastery of the English language to such a degree that they are no longer in need of the full services of the ESL program from RISD. The tremendous accomplishment of these students is certainly cause to celebrate as each of these students are now considered fully bilingual, a life skill that firmly sets them in a position for success in today’s multicultural professional job market.

Christmas Band Concert on Tuesday of this Week

Come join us as we celebrate the holidays with music from our talented middle and high school band members. On Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the deGraffenried Auditorium, parents, students, and community members can come enjoy the holiday concert under the direction of Band Director Brian Brown and Assistant Director Trevor Cardwell.

ASVAB Results Informational Meeting

On Wednesday of this week, Mr. Rex Booth will meet with all students who took the ASVAB. The meeting will be led by SGT. Gilbert, who will help students who took the test to better understand the implications of their scores.

Christmas Lunch with Students this Week

On Thursday of this week, parents will have the opportunity to come in and eat lunch with their child. Parents should have received a RSVP card in the mail from the school that could be returned. Parents and students will get to enjoy the day’s lunch in the high school foyer as well as enjoying the services of the Panther Catering class under the direction of Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Ashley McGinnis.

Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences this Week!

On Wednesday of this week, parents of Middle School students may sign up to meet with whole grade teams. Parents will need to return the flyer that was sent home with a desired time indicated. For more information, please contact Assistant Principal Carlos Quarles at: carlos.quarles@russellville.kyschools.us or call the school at (270) 726-8421. High School Parent-Teacher conferences will be on the second week back from Christmas Break.
