RHS Dual Credit Ramps Up Opportunities for Students in 2018-19

Russellville HS will have a whole new look to accelerated learning in the coming school year. RHS will begin the transition in 2018-19 to a focus on providing students with the opportunities to take Dual Credit classes on campus in addition to those already offered at SKY CTC in Franklin KY that currently serves students enrolled in the Panther Academy. In 2018-19, RHS hopes to offer students Dual Credit classes at RHS in the following areas: math, science, psychology, human health and wellness, music, computer information technologies, and cultural studies. Off campus, students will be able to take classes in English, Public Speaking, and Social Studies. Each Dual Credit class that a student takes while still enrolled in high school saves that student between $1,000 and $1,300 on what they would have spent to take the same class when enrolled in college.

KYOTE Testing on Monday, May 21st

SKYCTC in Franklin has graciously agreed to come and administer the KYOTE exam to all sophomores and juniors interested in trying to get a qualifying score in either English, Reading, or Math that would allow them to take Dual Credit classes in 2018-19. Students have signed up or have been signed up based on their preferences or ACT scores.

8th Grade Graduation and 6th -7th Grade Awards

8th Grade Graduation will take place in the Jim Young Gym on Wednesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. Graduation will cap off several events for the Middle School as school comes to a close. On this same day, at 1 p.m., 6th and 7th graders will be recognized for their accomplishments this school year.

Finals

Finals for RJSHS will be Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18. Finals will be given at individual teacher discretion.

New Paint Job

Visitors to RHS will notice paint has been scrapped from the walls of the school in several spots. This has been done in preparation of the new paint job that the HS will get this summer. The school will be painting the hallways that lead to the band room, the cafeteria, the main HS hallway, the science wing, the ACE building, the weight room, and offices in the HS and MS. The many artistic murals in the HS Halls will be preserved.
