The Logan County Conservation Districts will be taking additional applications for cost share assistance for no-till and strip-till vegetable or tobacco crops. Applications will be taken through June 25, 2018. The cost share payment rate is $200 per acre for no-till and $150 per acre for strip-till. This program is designed to help reduce soil erosion on historically conventional tilled vegetable or tobacco crop fields by using no-till or strip-till practices.
Applications will also be available for livestock frost proof water tanks, pipeline, and stream & sinkhole fencing in pasture. Pasture applications will be taken through June 25, 2018. The cost share rate is $500 for each frost proof tank, $1.50 per foot for pipeline, and $0.50 for fence. This program is designed to improve grazing efficiency in pastures and improve water quality. The practices will be installed according to design criteria.
Wildlife food plot applications will also be available through June 25, 2018. Cost share payment is $50 per acre up to $250 maximum per person or operation. Food plots must be seeded and receipts provided for cost share funding. Food plot seedings could include annual grain crops or clover/legume plot seedings.
Local Cost Share payments provided by the Conservation Districts are limited to $1,000 maximum per operation per fiscal year. Fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Applications can be completed at the Logan County Conservation District office at 253C Hopkinsville Rd. in Russellville. Plans are to approve applicants’ funding on June 27, 2018.
