Auburn School is ending this school year with many celebrations and with grateful hearts for our community and family support.

This week, we are celebrating our students with our first annual Student Appreciation Week sponsored by Auburn School’s FRYSC. We had many fun surprises for our students. On the first day, our staff dressed up in our royal and fancy attire to show students how important they are to us. Every student received a crown and a royal treat.

We celebrated Christmas in May with our students, since we didn’t get to have any in-person Christmas celebrations while we were on virtual learning. Students also had a great time with field day, which included snow cones from Pelican Ice and a picnic lunch.

It’s been a tough year on students, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished. They deserve to be celebrated and to feel special, and that’s exactly how we hoped they felt with our Student Appreciation Week.

Caroline Powell, a 2nd grade student, said, “The teachers have always gotten an appreciation week, but now the teachers and staff appreciate us, too!”

We also have celebrated our 8th grade students by teachers delivering congratulation signs provided through FRYSC to our 8th grade family homes, and each 8th grader received a t-shirt designed by our 8th grade students.

In other grades across the school, teachers are celebrating students for a variety of accomplishments. In Mrs. Bradford’s room, students received awards for being kind and thoughtful toward other people. In 4th grade, students were celebrated for meeting their personal best goals on our spring benchmark assessments. Our preschool classes celebrated their last day with fun inflatables and cotton candy. That’s just to name a few of the exciting recognitions of our students!

Our staff was also pampered for Staff Appreciation Week through PTO, FRYSC, and so many other community partners. During this week, we had a visit from the Groovy Gus Donut Bus, an Auburn Sol Azteca taco bar, an Italian feast from First Southern National Bank, shirts from The Point Church and our district, massages from Soulful Touch Massage & Wellness, and more snacks than we could eat.

Our students and families showered our Auburn family with flowers, gifts, and treats. It was so sweet seeing our students deliver these meaningful gifts to our teachers. Our students and staff also participated in a variety of dress up days to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. It is a week that will not be forgotten!

This year, Scotty’s Contracting and Stone partnered with our PTO to donate a blacktop basketball court and a new playground fence. Our students have been thrilled about these additions to our playground, and we have loved seeing our students play four-square, basketball, kickball, and volleyball on our new playground additions.

We have enjoyed spending the last few weeks of school celebrating with our students, and we are so appreciative of all the community and family support we have received this school year. We look forward to a fantastic 2021-22 school year that will be here soon!
