RHS Panther Band performed for a host of parents, staff, alumni and fans on April 13 at WKU’s Van Meter Hall for the Annual KMEA High School Concert Fest.
Directed by Trevor Cardwell and Brian Elliot, Panther Band moved the audience with three captivating pieces: Into the Storm by Robert Smith, American Elegy by Frank Ticheli and Alamo March by Karl L King & James Swearingen. Performing in Grade 4, Panther Band was awarded a Distinguished Rating.
This rating is the highest for Panther Band since 2018.
Trevor Cardwell spoke afterwards, applauding his students for the effort they have given all year and for achieving what some have doubted was ever possible.
Seniors this year include John Mathew Parrish, Graciann Beard, Candace Baker, Anna Ragland, Zander Bilbrey, Jordin Morris, Izadora Perez, Lily Buffa, Rachel Logan and Cherokee Anderson-Hendrix.
Candace Baker had this to say, “ (I’m) So proud of everything we’ve accomplished. What a great last Concert Festival. Can’t believe it was my last.”
Panther Band celebrated afterwards at Cici’s Pizza!
