Russellville Independent Schools, Russellville READs, and the Logan County Public Library are proud to present Author Fest, April 28 & 29. Thanks to an Innovative Approaches to Literacy grant, 4 nationally-acclaimed authors will be visiting us right here in Russellville, and you are invited to meet them.

During this two-day event, students at Stevenson Elementary and Russellville Middle and High Schools will get to meet with the authors in their schools. Carmen Agra Deedy, author of Carina Felina, and Linda Sue Park, author of A Long Walk to Water, will visit the elementary school. The middle and high school students will meet Jason Reynolds, author of Long Way Down, and Nic Stone, author of Dear Martin. These wonderful authors will share stories and encouragement with students. Each student will then take home a book by the author they meet.

After their school engagements, the authors will join us at an evening event that is open to the public at the Russellville High School’s DeGraffenried Auditorium, located at 1101 W 9th Street, Russellville.

On Monday, April 28 at 6 p.m., Agra Deedy and Park will be in conversation with local artist, book illustrator, and Russellville alumna Emilie Gill moderating.

On Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m., Reynolds and Stone will be in conversation with Bowling Green-area author Court Stevens moderating. They will share their personal stories, their inspiration for writing, and more.

After the presentation, Half Price Books will be on-site with new copies of the authors’ books available for purchase and signing, if you would like the chance to meet the authors directly.

There has never been an author event of this magnitude in Logan County, and we are so thrilled to bring these amazing authors to our community.

Free tickets for the evening events are available now! Please visit loganlibrary.org/AuthorFest for more information about the authors and to reserve your spot.

King Simpson is director of the Logan County Public Library. His wife, Taylor Mohon Simpson, is Stevenson Elementary School librarian. They have led the project to make these events happen. They credit Robin Cornelius, chief operations officer of Russellville Schools, for having the original idea for this.
