Christmas
The first weekend of December began with the Open Air Market in Adairville. Unfortunately, the air was frigid and the wind was frightful! We were
blessed with Justice Bill Cunningham sitting at our booth and signing the books he donated to RRMH. Many of his fans came to see him and have their
books signed. The book, A Distant Light, can be obtained through RRMH. Thank you to Joe and Diane Krulik for making fried pies and Darlynn Moore
for her apple cider that we sold for RRMH. Many thanks for Margie, Martha and Emily Weeks, Loretta Eve, Tom, Matthew and Dreama Ruley for manning the
booth.
Bill Steen won the door prize at our booth. Congratulations, Bill!!
Parade
Page Barker was so kind as to loan us the use of his barn, hay and water for Gerry Barker's oxen so that they could be in the Schochoh Christmas parade
after working all Saturday at the Adairville Christmas Market giving rides to the shoppers. Thank you to Darlynn Moore, Shannon Hickey and Dreama Ruley
for riding in the oxcart and Tom Ruley, Gerry Barker, Jacob Yoste, Martin Hickey, Daymon Deweese, Steven McDougald, and Evan Hollingsworth for walking
alongside with their costumes and muskets. We may be a funny sight but we love to represent RRMH in an 18th century way. The Christmas
service later that afternoon at the meeting house was beautiful with decorations by Diane Krulik and Darlynn Moore. They do such a wonderful job of
turning the meeting house into a beautiful Christmas scene. Tom Ruley delivered the sermon: “Christmas in 1800”.
Country Angel Benefit
We hope you were able to make it to the cutest little store in Adairville, KY on December 10-11, 2010. The weather was frightful again but many did
make it in to shop for Christmas. Tim Watson loves to stand on the front porch and serenade the town with his wonderful horn, so not only can shoppers
find unique things to buy, but they can be blessed with his beautiful music. Thanks to Tim and Nancy Watson for helping RRMH with a percentage of their
sales from December 10th and 11th .
Repairs on the Building
As of right now, the walls are braced and work is in progress by Johnie Baldwin and his crew.
Memorial Contributions in Memory of Loved Ones or Friends
Consider this: instead of sending flowers to a funeral, you can send the name of the deceased and name of contributor(s) along with a donation to Red
River Meeting House and Cemetery. When Darlynn Moore receives it, she will send a card to the family of the deceased acknowledging the contribution.
Please make sure a complete name and address are included so the card can be sent in a timely manner.
Sewing Days
January and February's sewing days at the Schochoh Community Center were busy, busy. Reenactors came to make clothes, tents, books and knives. Pot-luck
lunches were enjoyed by all and domino games were exciting! These were great days to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and get some work done. The community
center has great space for laying out projects or cutting patterns.
One of Our Own
Brown Jarboe, father of Parson John (Frank Jarboe) was promoted to Heaven on February 26. Please keep the family in your prayers. Mr. Brown was a
mighty man of God and a blessing to all who knew him. He was a participant in Red River events for years. We will truly miss him!
