Marching Cougars headed to state Saturday

The Logan County Marching Cougars are headed to the state semifinals Saturday. The Kentucky Music Educators Association extravaganza will be held in Bowling Green. Sixteen bands in five classes and 11 in the largest 6A class qualified at their respective regionals Saturday.

The Marching Cougars will present their show at 12:15 Saturday on the Warren Central Field in the Class AAA division. Band and football classifications are not based on the size of the school but on the size of the band.

The other AAA band from this area which qualified for state is Franklin-Simpson. Field Commander Makayla Nelson will lead her F-S band on the field at 12:15. The only other AAA bands located west of I 65 to qualify are Calloway County and John Hardin.

Also to perform are Wayne County, West Jessamine, LaRue County, Rowan County, Boyle County, Garrard County, Glasgow, Estill County, John Hardin, Russell County, Adair County, Pulaski County and Taylor County.

After their state-qualifying performance Saturday, Director David Dayton wrote on Facebook:

Congratulations LCHS Cougar Marching Band!!! You all ROCK! Headed to KMEA State for the 4th year in a row! I am very proud of each and everyone of you! We have had an incredible season!! Keep up the great work!!

Thank you to everyone who has had a hand in making this season incredible!!! So many people to thank! Thank you for providing food, selling concessions, moving equipment, loading equipment, building props, driving equipment, driving buses, organizing uniforms, chaperoning, selling fundraisers, organizing people, fixing carts, fixing equipment, donating snacks, providing meals, cheering us on, and all the thousand other things that you do that keep us going! THANK YOU!!!

Every time I turn around there is a parent or volunteer helping our students find success and I am always humbled and blown away by your selflessness and willingness to help our students!! YOU ROCK!!! THANK YOU!!

Lastly, thank you to the LCHS Band Students! You guys ROCK and keep improving every day! We are learning so many valuable lessons through music!! Keep pushing! Always move forward!
