Ezell hits Sells with winning touchdown pass
as time expires
Senior quarterback Tyler Ezell led the Logan County Cougars to a magical 26-24 win at Madisonville-North Hopkins Friday in a district battle between two undefeated teams ranked in Class 4A's Top Ten in the state. The win avenged their only regular season loss in the last three years. Ezell engineered an 80-yard drive in less than a minute, hitting Jaden Sells with a 31-yard pass as time expired. The Cougars were without two of their top playmakers in that winning drive after Rooster Woodard and Gary Hardy went out with injuries. M-NH led 10-0 at the half, fell behind, and then rode the running of start back Jeriah Hightower to take the lead with 51 seconds. Hightower ran for over 300 yards, but Ezell's heroics overshadowed him.

Teams with identical records meeting twice
Two local high school games tonight involve teams with identical but very different records. The Logan County Cougars--one of the top teams in the state in Class 4A--will play host to Class 5A's Greenwood at Cougar Field. Both teams are 4-0. The Cougars are one of the top scoring teams in the state with three of the wins involving running clocks and 55 or more points for LCHS. Greenwood made a statement early by beating two-time defending Class 4A state champion Franklin-Simpson in their season opener. Franklin, meanwhile, is hosting Class 1A Russellville in one of the longest-running rivalries in Western Kentucky. Both teams are 0-4. F-S has played a tough schedule and hopes to resume its winning ways tonight on James 'Shadetree' Matthews Field during its Homecoming. The Panthers are showing improvement each week, including scoring 28 points in a loss to Logan County last week. WRUS Radio will carry the RHS game live with Countdown to Kickoff beginning at 6:30. The Cougars' game will be tape-delayed an aired Saturday, beginning at 2:05.
