Community Ed offers computer, Spanish courses

Becoming Internet Savvy - Tired of asking friends or your kids how to find something online? Well, take this class and learn how to add a site to your favorites, how to search for information, how to change your Internet settings such as the appearance, tabs, security and search defaults as well as how to view and delete browsing history, how to set up an e-mail account and use email to send pictures or files, and how to share pictures online. Learn about useful sites to enhance your computer use such as how to create your own free website, where to get free photo and audio editing software and much more! This class will be held on Mondays, November 7, 14, and 21 from 6-8p.m., in room 226, Logan County High School. Use entrance #6, in the back of the school. The class is being taught by Abbi Brown, who teaches several computer technology classes at Logan County High School. Class fee: $30. Please call Community Education, 726-8405, to register.

Getting Started With Windows 7- Learn the basics of Windows 7 and become more familiar with a computer in a relaxed setting. Participants will learn how to navigate in the slightly changed format from Windows Vista. Windows 7 is drastically different from Windows XP, so come and learn how to use the new system! You will learn how to perform searches in Windows 7 using the new start menu, and will learn how to personalize the system to suit your needs. Bring all of your questions to class. This class will be held on Thursdays, September 15, 22, and 29, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the computer lab in the new 7-8 Center at Russellville High School. The class is being taught by Laura Richey, who works as an Office Manager and has extensive computer expertise. Class fee: $30. Please call Community Education, 726-8405, to register.

Basic Spanish for Beginners- Learn to speak the Spanish language in nine weeks! This nine-week program will teach you the basics of conversational Spanish. There are 8 weeks of class, and a special ninth session at a local Mexican restaurant, where you will put your knowledge to work while enjoying a celebratory meal, in Spanish, of course! Session topics include the sounds of Spanish, the alphabet, words you should know, numbers, telling time in Spanish, common phrases, key expressions, and important vocabulary words. Sessions will begin on Tuesday, September 13 and end on November 22. There will be no class on October 4 or 11, due to fall break. Classes will be held at Russellville High School, in room 7 from 6-8 p.m. The instructor is Myrah Duncan, who works for Logan County Schools and whose native language is Spanish.
