According to the Secretary of State’s and Logan County Clerk's offices, the following have filed to seek offices that serve Logan County. An * denotes the incumbent. The Primary Election Date in Kentucky is May 17.
Logan County will have a new state senator, thanks to redistricting. Warren County Republican Mike Wilson is unopposed for reelection. The current senator representing Logan and Todd counties—Whitney Westerfield of Christian County—will pick up counties west of Hopkinsville.
Although the 16th District House District now includes a portion of Christian County, incumbent Republican Representative Jason Petrie of Todd County is also unopposed.
Also having no filed competition are incumbent Circuit Judge Joe Hendricks and District Judge Ken Williams, both of Logan County.
Turnover in major full-time offices in Logan County will be at the highest level in memory, since long-term incumbents (County Judge-executive) Logan Chick and (County Clerk) Scotty Harper are not seeking reelection while two-term Jailer Phil Gregory (R) is running for judge-executive instead of jailer.
Also two incumbent magistrates—District 2’s Jack Crosley and District 3’s Barry Wright—are not running again.
Incumbent County Attorney Joe Ross, a Democrat, and fourth district magistrate Jason Harper (R) are unopposed in both the primary and the general election.
Commonwealth Attorney Neil Kerr and Circuit Clerk Mary Orange are in their fourth years of six-year terms and don’t have to run for reelection for two years.
Incumbent U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R), Sheriff Steven Stratton (D), Coroner Mary Givens (D), Property Valuation Administrator Brooke Brown Waldrip (D), and magistrates Tyler Davenport (D), Robert Chyle (R) and Thomas Bouldin (D) have opposition.
Also opposed is Russellville Mayor Mark Stratton and the current six Russellville council members.
