REALTOR® Association of Southern Kentucky (RASK) and Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland (FAKH) teamed up to distribute a total of 12,700 servings of food to Logan County families facing hunger this winter. The food was delivered to Logan County and Russellville Independent school districts on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Now in its 11th year, REALTORS® Hope for Hunger is a fundraiser conducted twice a year that has donated over 4.7 million servings of food to local area school districts since its inception. The cumulative efforts of this year’s campaigns provided a total of 777,942 servings to southern Kentucky families.

This fall, the REALTORS® Hope for Hunger Chili Cook-Off event raised more than $20,000, with an additional $10,000 donation in food from FAKH. Over 100,000 servings of food were distributed to nine different school districts.

“As the cost of food continues to rise, more and more families are struggling to keep food on their tables. We are just happy to be in a position to help fill this need in our local community,” said REALTORS® Community Service Committee Chair Laura Oliver.

Working together, RASK and FAKH create a large impact for families facing hunger in southern Kentucky.

“Families have been forced to make tough choices between paying rent or putting food on the table due to the ongoing high inflation,” said FAKH executive director Jamie Sizemore. “We hope this food donation to families facing hunger will ease some of the burden and worry that parents face. As we complete our third year of partnership with RASK and their Hope for Hunger initiative, we are proud to play a role in such an important annual event.”
