Concert @ Carrico lineup announced
The Logan County Chamber of Commerce has released the schedule and performers for te second year of Concert @ Carrico, free entertainment in downtown Russellville during a four-month, warm-weather period. Adult Easter Egg Hunt

Presale prices are past, but tickets can be purchased at the event at the Auburn Senior Center, 169 Wrenwood Drive, Auburn Saturday night Auburn Saturday night when the Adult Easter Egg Hunt is held. 'Agitated individual' arrested at
Russellville Schools Central Office
From Russellville Schools: Today at approximately 11 a.m., an agitated individual entered the Russellville Independent Central Office building. After the individual was removed from the building, he left and later returned to the Central Office, remaining in the parking lot area. Russellville City Police Department officers had already been dispatched and were onsite when the individual returned. RISD Central Office was placed on lockdown. The individual was charged with trespassing and removed from the premises. RISD is thankful for the swift actions of the Russellville City Police Department and their assistance with the situation.

From Logan County Athletic Director Greg Howard: Thursday,March 30m the Lady Cougars' home softball games with Edmonson County have been canceled. They will now be playing at Allen County that night in the KY 2A Sectional Semifinals against Allen County.

Long-time pastor passes away
Pearce Memorial United Methodist church pastor John Weber has died at age 82. He was a pastor for 65 years, including at two churches in Russellville, First Christian Church and the United Methodist Temple. His wife Doris died about a year and a half ago. His funeral will be in Russellville Friday at a funeral home which does not use The LoJo's Obituary services.

Educator Mary Ann Downing dies
Mary Ann Downing, a retired Olmstead Elementary School teacher, has passed away at age 81. She had served as president of the Third District Retired Teachers Association. She was one of three daughters of the late Harry and Emily Downing, all of whom spent their teaching careers in the Logan County School System. The other two sisters, Sue Helen Wood and Jackie Powell, survive. Her funeral .will be at a Russellville funeral home which does not participate in The LoJo's Obituary services.

Class 2A regional games postponed
Both Logan County teams' scheduled Class 2A regional tournament semifinals games were postponed Saturday because of flooded fields. Athletic Director Greg Howard says, "Baseball games for today are canceled. We’ll shoot for April 15 at Warren Central at the same times. If weather is an issue, we’ll move to WKU on that date." The softball regional at Allen County-Scottsville was also postponed, but Howard says the teams are still working toward finding a workable date.

Cougar Basketball Camp
offered twice this summer
Logan County Basketball will hold two camps this summer for boys entering grades 1-8 in the fall. Cougar Basketball Camp will be conducted by Head Coach Josh Frick and the LCHS coaching staff, plus former and current Cougar basketball players. The basic fundamental camp involves daily instruction, both individual and team competitions, and valuable insight from guest speakers. The main focus will be on improving overall skills. All campers will receive a free t-shirt for attending camp. The camps will be held June 12-15 and July 11-14. Each will have a pair of two-hour sessions daily. Boys who will be in grades 1-4 will attend from 9-11 a.m. and grades 5-8 from noon=2 p.m. More information can be found in the accompanying graphic.

Glenn Tinsley dies at age 95
Funeral services will be held at his beloved Auburn Baptist Church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. for Glenn Tinsley, who played many leadership roles during his long life. He was president and chairman of the board of Auburn Bank for 24 years, working there 44 years; an Army veteran; a deacon and Sunday School teacher at the church for 40 years; a Mason for 73 years, including serving as Grand Master; and mayor of Auburn in the 1960s.

Lady Cougars dominate
Class 2A regional opener
Shayla Johnson led the way as the Logan County Lady Cougars opened their season and Class 2A Tournament play with a 15-0 shutout at Hart County. Johnson struck out 10 batters and pitched a one-hit shutout while offensively getting 2 hits, including a triple, and driving in 4 runs. Nora Epley tripled, singled and doubled while scoring 3 runs. Hailey Burgess also had 3 each of hits and runs. Trinity Case had 2 hits. Kinley Holloway tripled and scored twice. Sydni Blick & Jocelyn Mock each doubled. Madelyn Burgess & Keirsten Harper each singled. Emerson McKinnis had 2 RBIs. Karis Taylor and Holloway scored 2 runs each. The win was the first in the high school head coaching career of Gary Gettings. No opponent or playing date has been announced for the next Class 2A game.

Warren Central wins boys
basketball state championship
Avenging their loss in last year's state finals, the Warren Central Dragons won the boys state basketball championship Saturday night at Rupp Arena. Coach William Unseld's team bea defending state champion George Rogers Clark High School 64-60. Last year, GRC edged the Dragon by a point in the championship game. Central has won 63 total games the last two seasons.

The Auburn Police Department has announced "with a heavy heart" the death of retired chief George Lockhart on March 10 in Nashville. He served as chief under multiple mayors. He lived in Simpson County and would have been 78 this week.

Sherry Murphy named to
state Tourism finance board
Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed Sherry Murphy, the executive director of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, as a member of the Tourism Development Finance Authority for the state of Kentucky. A former director of Main Street Russellville, she is the daughter of the late Rita Baldwin Osborne and Darrel Murphy and the aunt of Logan County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Polly Steenbergen.

Funerals for storm victims
to be held this Tuesday
Funeral services for two men who lost their lives tragically in Friday’s severe wind storms will be held in Russellville Tuesday afternoon. Junior Brown, 62, died from injuries he suffered when a tree fell on his car on Lewisburg Road. He and his girlfriend were stuck in traffic while another tree was being removed from the roadway. His service is at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. David Ramsey, 68, was killed when parts of a carport struck him while he was in his yard on the Simpson County side of Pilot Knob Road. His services will be at Kirby Funeral Services Russellville. Obituaries for both men can be found in the Obituary section of The Logan Journal.

semifinals postponed
Because of severe storms and winds, the girls regional basketball tournament semifinal games were postponed Friday night. The Russellville Lady Panthers’ game against Barren County will now be played tonight at 6:30. The game will be broadcast on all of WRUS’ platforms. The winner will meet the Bowling Green-Metcalfe County survivor in the 3 p.m. championship game.

Lady Panther Pep Rally open to public
A pep rally for the Russellville Lady Panthers will be held Friday morning from 7:30-8:45 in Jim Young Gymnasium. And community members are welcome to attend. RHS plays in the girls regional basketball semifinals for the first time in 30 years at 6 p.m. that night at Diddle Arena against the Barren County Trojanettes. Panther Band and cheerleaders will be involved in the pep rally activities. Players and coaches will be introduced and interviewed. Video tributes will also be shown
