At Tuesday’s board meeting, the Logan County Board of Education announced the selection of Leon Smith as the district’s interim superintendent. Smith will serve as interim during the superintendent search process following Superintendent Paul M. Mullins transitioning to Elizabethtown Independent Schools on Sept. 1.
Smith served as superintendent of the Russellville Schools for several years before his retirement. He also served as the city schools’ interim superintendent between the tenures of Bart Flener and Larry Begley.
“I am honored to be asked to serve as interim superintendent for Logan County Schools,” said Smith. “I look forward to working with the board, staff, students and community to provide a safe and meaningful learning environment for all students.”
