The Logan County Board of Education met Tuesday, Dec. 5, to finalize their decision on the district’s new superintendent. The Board voted unanimously to hire Dr. Dan Costellow, Ed.D. as the new Superintendent of Logan County Schools, effective Jan. 1, 2024. The Board conducted an extensive search process to identify the right candidate to lead our district and would like to thank the Superintendent Search Committee and the Kentucky School Board Association for their support in the search process.

Dr. Costellow is a Logan County alumnus with a heart for home. He has a breadth of experience as a former principal, assistant principal, and agriculture teacher with Warren County Public Schools. His current experience as General Education Services Director with the Green River Regional Education Cooperative has allowed him to work with many school districts and district-level directors in the GRREC service area. He brings a fresh set of eyes to Logan County Schools, and the board is proud to welcome him aboard.

“I am excited to return home to a school district that is highly regarded across Kentucky,” said Dr. Costellow. “I have hoped for many years to get the opportunity to work alongside many of my family, friends, and colleagues in Logan County. I appreciate the efforts of the Board and the Screening Committee and the faith they have placed in me. I look forward to meeting the students, staff, parents, and community and building relationships to make an already great district even better!”

Dr. Costellow is a Chandler’s Bear and 1991 Logan County High School graduate. He is married to Jenny Costellow, teacher at Warren County Public Schools. His daughter Ali is a freshman at Western Kentucky University, and his son Gavin is a freshman at South Warren High School.

Dr. Costellow brings 28 years of experience in education at the elementary, middle, high school, university, and regional cooperative level. He obtained his Superintendent Certification and Doctor of Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. He also obtained his Master of Arts in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from WKU.

The Logan County Board of Education would also like to thank Mr. Leon Smith for serving as interim superintendent since September. His support for Logan County students, staff, and schools is greatly appreciated.

Logan County Schools is excited about the future with the leadership of Dr. Costellow. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and student success, we are confident that he will lead our district to new heights.
