This is the first day in about 40 years that the hospital located at the edge of the Russellville city limits has not been known as Logan Memorial Hospital. As of July 1, 2024, it is now the Medical Center at Russellville. This is the final report from Logan Memorial on how it has been a benefit to the community, which was released in June.

Logan Memorial Hospital recently published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2023 calendar year. The report highlights some of the many ways the hospital positively contributes to Russellville and surrounding areas while supporting the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.

“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the care of our patients and at the same time be an active partner in strengthening the community we serve,” said Andrew Bedi, FACHE, CEO of Logan Memorial. “As this report details, we are not only one of the Russellville area’s preferred healthcare providers, we are also one of its larger employers, taxpayers and contributors to local organizations with a shared vision of helping others. In 2023 and every year since we accepted our first patient, we continue to make a positive impact on the community we call home.”

Logan Memorial’s 2023 community benefit report details the hospital’s continued efforts to meet the area’s growing healthcare needs by welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2023, Logan Memorial added 92 affiliated providers and made about $500,000 in capital improvements, including investments in a new cooling tower, new operating room lights, a plasma thawing system, EKG machines, vital sign machines, medication refrigerators, and stretchers.

Additionally, Logan Memorial provided nearly $2.6 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.

Logan Memorial is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2023, the hospital distributed more than $14.8 million in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 200 employees, and contributed more than $75,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.

The report shares several examples of how Logan Memorial is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, extending far beyond the physical walls of its facilities. Last year, the organization paid nearly $2.5 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility in an effort to boost the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have continued its support of local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including 13th Annual Child Abuse Awareness Walk, Elkton Rotary, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Logan County Schools, Logan Economic Alliance for Development, Russellville Independent Schools, Russellville Rotary, Russellville Rural Fire Department, Stuff the Bus Foundation of SOKY, Todd County Schools and United Way, among others.

“We wouldn’t be able to do what we do as a healthcare provider without the support of our local community,” added Bedi. “So, it just makes sense to support like-minded local organizations with a share vision of promoting a healthier Russellville area.”
