Thurston Drive to be resurfaced
Kentucky House Appropriations and Revenue Chair Jason Petrie of Elkton has announced that Logan County will receive $80,000 in infrastructure funding under legislation approved by the Kentucky House and Senate. It will go to the City of Russellville for the resurfacing of Thurston Drive, “Investing in road infrastructure is investing in safety, connectivity, and economic growth,” Petrie said. “HJR 46 ensures that the most critical road projects receive the funding needed to protect drivers and strengthen communities across the Commonwealth.” Several businesses are located on Thurston Drive across the bypass near Walmart.

Some Logan roads closed for flooding
Rain continues to fall across the District 3 area and more roads are becoming impassable due to flooding. The U.S. National Weather Service Louisville predicts more rain tonight and through the weekend. Flooded roads are a major concern. In Logan County at 2 p.m.: KY 3201, – Closed at mile marker 0 to 1, KY 1153 – Closed at mile marker 3 to 4, KY 107 – Closed at mile marker 5, KY 765 – Closed at mile point 2.9, and KY 1151 – Closed at mile point 4.8.

Chamber cuts ribbon for rebranded medical firm

Summer Nights Cruise-Ins start Saturday
Another summer of monthly Summer Nights Cruise-ins on Carrico Park Square in Russellville begins this Saturday, April 12. Other dates are May 10, June 14. July 12, Aug. 9 and Sept. 18. The hours are 5-8 p.m. Event founder Clay Bilyeu says, “Music, food , 50/50… Lots of beautiful cars and trucks!” The events will serve as fundraisers for Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Alzheimer's Foundation and Autism Awareness. Food trucks will be available.

A’Miyah Collier named National Player of the Week
How do you prove that you were ready to return to the playing field after being sidelined for a month with a fractured foot? For former Russellville High School great A’Miyah Collier, the answer was to be named National Junior College Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week. Here’s the announcement from Volunteer State Community College: “Congrats to A'Miyah Collier... Her amazing feats on the field last week earned her NATIONAL Player of the Week from #NJCAA! Her incredible stats: A'Miyah hit .727 with 10 extra base hits (including 4 home runs) and an amazing 25 RBI!”

Auburn Health Care Easter Egg Hunt Saturday
The back lawn on Perkins Street of Auburn Health Care will be held this Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. The official address of the facility is 139 Pearl Street. Participants (0-12 years old) should furnish their own baskets. Auburn Health Care residents enjoy watching the youngsters search for eggs and try to win prizes.

Preschool Spring Fling offered Monday
A Preschool Spring Fling drive-through event will be held Monday, April 21, from 4-5:15 p.m. at the Logan County Extension Office. The first 75 children ages 3-5 who have completed the Kindergarten Readiness Survey will receive “Learning Giveaways.” The survey can be accessed by scanning the QR Code or visiting the website, both of which can be found on the accompanying graphic.

Maxie Rittenberry to be honored on his 90th birthday
Maxie Rittenberry will be honored on his 90th birthday Saturday in his hometown of Auburn. The Army veteran helps people in countless ways, especially through his 55 years as a member of Logan County Search and Rescue, many of them in leadership roles. Friends and family are invited to come visit with him at the Auburn Senior Center, 169 Wrenwood Drive, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Adairville School groups and Logan 4-H sponsoring 8th Grade Dance
All eighth graders in Logan County Schools are invited to the second annual Boots & Bling Logan County 8th Grade Dance next Friday, April 25. From 7-9 p.m. at the Logan County Extension Office. The fee is $10 at the door, and a parent must sign the student in at the door. Sponsors are Adairville PTO, Logan County 4-H and Adairville FRYSC.

Chandlers School receives TVA STEAM grant
Valarie Beard, Chandlers School’s STEAM teacher, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority. The grant funds will be used to purchase engaging and educational resources to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math. These new materials will include weather kits, robotics, forensic science, weather kits, soil testing kits, electrical circuit sets and engineering building kits.

Jermani Morris qualifies for national track meet
Former Russellville Lady Panther track star Jermani Morris is part of a relay team which has qualified for the NAIA National Track & Field Meet. She and teammates Hannah Reid, Jozien Brisbon and Kyra Engel comprise the Lindsey Wilson College 4x100 team which is currently ranked tenth in the nation. Coach Anthony Thompson’s entire team is ranked tenth overall nationally by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Association.

Cougar Middle Basketball tryouts for spring and summer set
Tryouts for Logan County Middle School boys basketball for the spring and summer seasons will be held Tuesday, May 13, at the high school. Current fifth graders will try out from 5-6:15 p.m., current sixth graders from 6:15-7:30 and current seventh graders from 7:30-8:15. Proof of an updated physical exam is required before trying out. Nora Epley has another big game for Lady Raiders
Freshman Nora Epley from Logan County recorded her team-leading 14th multi-hit game of the season and second in as many tries with a pair of doubles to lead Lindsey Wilson College to a 7-1 win over visiting Cumberland Thursday. She also walked and scored two runs. Epley leads the Blue Raiders in batting (.346). hits (45), doubles (17), and walks (25, over twice as many as any teammate). She’s second in runs scored (30) and total bases (65). Lindsey Wilson is 23-19 and will be the number four seed in the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Clarksville, beginning Thursday.

Logan County Soccer Cruise In at Kirby Sunday
The second annual Logan County Soccer Car Show and Cruise In will be held this Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Kirby Funeral Services Russellville, 110 Franklin Road. LCHS athletes to sign with colleges Wednesday
Five is the magic number Wednesday when five Logan County senior student-athletes will sign to be involved in five different sports at five different universities. They are Amelia Larson in Campbellsville cross country, Ta’kyiah Mason in Vol State basketball, Aubrey Sears in University of Houston volleyball, Morgan Taylor in WKU cheerleading and Jacob White in Bellarmine football. The even begins at 9:25 a.m. in the main gym. The public is invited.
