The Logan Journal has become more user friendly in the last few days, including going mobile.
Readers with “smart phones” can now access the online newspaper from any mobile device with internet access. They can read every story which has been published for the past three and a half years along with accessing the Roy’s Sports Calendar, the Community Calendar, and advertisements. A button for The LoJo is available for mobile screens.
Webmaster/Publisher Trey Turner has also redesigned the sports and community calendars so that readers can see what is happening on any day of the week or month.
Also new are links to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and email. Readers will find icons either on the side or bottom of pages to share all articles through those four media channels. Up to five people can be emailed with the link to the story at a time.
Facebook has long been an important ally for The LoJo every since the online publication was created in February 2009. Currently, 2,073 Facebook users have ‘Liked’ The Logan Journal. Each of them receives notification whenever a new article or advertisement goes on The LoJo. Anyone else who is a member of Facebook can get those notifications simply by clicking Like on The Logan Journal.
The Twitter page is now active “@loganjournal”.
The Logan Journal has been a member of the Kentucky Press Association for two years.
“We feel that we offer the best advertising opportunities in this area,” Turner says. “Our button ads along the side of each article cost only $35 per month, and the banner ads which alternate at the top of each page are just $60 per month. They are available 24 hours per day, every day of the month, every ad is in color, and advertisers have the option of a ‘Click Here’ button which takes readers to the advertiser’s website.”
Two package deals are offered. Advertisers who pay for five months in advance ($300 for banner ads and $175 for button ads) result in a free sixth month. Also advertisers who pay for at least three months in advance ($180 or $105) are entitled to a feature story about their business or service.
Sponsorship of the Community Calendar is also available for $60 per month. The sponsor’s logo will go at the top of the calendar, just as Roy’s Bar-B-Que has been atop the sports calendar for three years.
