Fall Community Ed classes offered in Russellville

Weave your dreams into reality! Learn How to Make a Dream Catcher in 5 sessions! This program will teach you the basics of making a dream catcher. Join Anishinaabe Kwe artist and enrolled tribal member Mandi to discuss the origins of the dream catcher, its significance, and try out the fundamentals while weaving your own dream catchers! All necessary materials will be provided including hoops, weaving string, and a variety of beads and finishes. Beginner friendly. The fee is $15 per class. You are able to come to one or all. The instructor is Mandi Sayles. Classes will be on Sept. 21 and 28 and Oct. 12, 19 and 26. Classes last from 5-6:30 p.m. These classes are held at 210 East 7 St. Russellville. Please register by Monday, Sept. 14.

Strum, sing and have fun! Learn How to Play the Guitar in 1 session! This program will go over six different topics. In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you years of musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it! This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Since this class is being held online with zoom, you will be able to sit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And since the class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. For ages 13+. The class cost is $60. The instructor is Craig Coffman. Class will be held on zoom! Class lasts from 1-3:30 p.m. CST. The class will be on Oct. 17. Please be registered by Oct. 1.

Learn to Play the Piano—One Note at a Time! Learn How to Play the Piano in 1 session! This class will go over 6 different topics. Learn to play piano the way professionals do-using chords. Since this class is being held on zoom you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home and take this course with no pressure at all. And since this course includes an online book and online follow up video lessons, you will be able to continue to practice and study on your own. An optional period online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. The course is partly lecture/ demonstration and partly hands-on instruction. Ages 13+. The class is $55. The instructor is Craig Coffman. Class will be held on zoom! Class starts at 9-Noon CST. The class will be on Oct. 17. Please be registered by Oct. 2.

Aloha! Learn the Ukulele! Learn How to Play the Ukulele in one session! This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Fee includes the online book, online recorded follow up lessons, a recording of the class and also access to optional live periodic question and answer sessions at no additional cost. Class is online using zoom and is partly hands-on and partly lecture/demonstration. Ages 13+. The class is $60.The instructor is Craig Coffman. Class will be held on zoom! Class starts at 6:30-9 p.m. Class starts on Oct. 22. Please be registered by Oct. 8.

Learn Piano by Ear! Learn one of music’s deepest mysteries: how to play songs without relying on music. A very practical presentation of music theory that includes predicting chord progressions, learning from recordings, and transposing-all expressed in everyday language. This is an ideal follow-up to the “Instant Piano” class and is open to anyone who has a basic understanding of chords on any instrument. Expand your musical horizons, and free yourself from sheet-music dependence, and be the life of the party! Prior experience with chords recommended. Fee includes the online book, online follow-up lessons, a recording of the class and an optional monthly question and answer session. Class is held online using zoom. Ages 13+. The class is $60. The instructor is Craig Coffman. Class will be on zoom! Class starts at 9:00-11:30 a.m.This will begin on Nov. 21. Please register by Nov. 6.

Learn General Aviation and How to Become a Pilot in 5 sessions! This program will teach you the basics of Aviation. Classes will begin Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will continue through each Tuesday until Nov. 10. Will be held at the Russellville-Logan County Airport from 6-7:30pm. The instructor is Robert Mclellan, a Licensed Private Pilot. The cost will be $60 for 5 classes. Sessions will include Communication, Navigation, Airplane Construction, Pre-flight Procedures, and Flight Planning. Additional information will be given on the steps required to begin your journey to become a pilot. (Actual airplanes will be involved.) So, bring your dream of flight, it might just take off! Please register on or before Friday Oct. 2.
