Coach Greg Howard believes that even though his Logan County cross country team finished fourth in the SKY Conference Championships this week in a highly competitive race, “their performance proves they are a power to be reckoned with come regional and state time.” With 76 points the Cougars finished behind Bowling Green (50), Greenwood (64), both Class AAA teams, and Edmonson County (69), Logan County scored 76.
The Cougars have now split with Edmonson County while taking an earlier victory over them on the same course to win the Raider Invitational.
“I’m proud of how our kids are running!! We are peaking at a great time with just a few short weeks left before regionals,” Howard said. “Our kids set several personal records last night and they are focused on gaining momentum before the real racing begins. Last night’s race between us and Edmonson was two state powerhouses going at it. This is the kind of racing you like to see this time of the year. We know what we need to do and are working to take care of business.”
Logan County's Sye Head, who has won this race and the Cougar Run recently, was also named SKY Conference Runner of the Year.
The Cougars’ next race will be at Christian County on Saturday, Oct. 20.
