According to Superintendent Leon Smith, the Russellville School Board approved the following amended calendar for 2013-2014 at Tuesday’s board meeting.
No school on Tuesday, May 20, Election Day but staff will report.
Last day for students will be Thursday, May 22.
Graduation will be held on Saturday, May 24
May 29 will be the last day for certified staff. (The board will allow this to be a flex day for certified staff if approved by the building principal. They may choose to work this day on Saturday, May 24 or Monday, May 26.)
In order to fulfill contracts, the last day for classified staff will be:
May 27, Cooks and Bus Drivers (180 day contract)
May 28, Last day for instructional assistants (181 day contract)
May 29, Last day for certified staff (185 day contract)
The board opted to reduce student days from 173 to 170. The state requires a minimum of 170 (six hour days) and a minimum of 1062 hours. This calendar meets those statutes.
“Hopefully we are through with winter,” Smith says.
