Highway mowing season may affect political signs

Mowing season is expected to start this week in the District 3 area. This is a reminder the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has the authority to remove any non-permitted signs along state maintained right-of-way areas.

Illegally placed materials along roads can create hazards by blocking sight distance or distracting drivers, particularly at intersections. It can also create obstacles for our mowing crews.

Any removed item will be taken to the KYTC maintenance facility in that county. It may be claimed within 30 days. Unclaimed materials will be trashed or recycled. This is especially significant this year because of political signs.

District 3 consists of Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties. Cooperation is greatly appreciated.
