WKU President Gary Ransdell spoke to over 200 SKYCTC students, Thursday, Sept. 4 at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, highlighting transfer opportunities for those students who seek a bachelor degree after they graduate from SKYCTC.
Dr. Ransdell brought the message that 2+2=success. Students who earn their associate degree at SKYCTC can enter WKU as a junior with all their general education requirements met and in two additional years at WKU could earn their bachelor degree. He stressed the importance of persistence and completing their educational goals, which translates to a better quality of life.
“We have a wonderful partnership with WKU,” said SKYCTC President Dr. Phillip Neal. “Students who finish an associate degree go on to complete bachelor’s degrees at higher rates, require less support at the university, and earn higher lifetime wages. Completing an associate degree at SKYCTC opens up many more doors (such as general education completion and transfer scholarships) than they would have if they do not graduate.”
“I am pleased to hear such strong university support for our mission, institution, and students,” said Neal.
The event ended with a question-and-answer session between SKYCTC students, Dr. Ransdell and his administrative staff about transfer and scholarship opportunities at WKU for SKYCTC graduates.
