Logan schools to implement Grow Your Own Leadership Cadre for staff

Posted on September 22, 2014 12:23 PM

Logan County Schools will implement a new Grow Your Own Leadership Cadre beginning Sept. 24. Participation is voluntary and open to all staff members. The purpose of this program is to:

*promote leadership development and growth,

*build positive relationships among teachers and staff,

*foster the development of positive, professional learning communities, and

*improve the individual performance of staff in Logan schools.

The program will consist of 90-minute workshops that will encompass a host of topics important for school leaders. The monthly discussions will expand staff members’ influence outside the parameters of our daily routines to promote excellence for all. The discussions will be engaging and dynamic, and no one will ever be put on the spot and forced to answer.

Superintendent Kevin Hub told staff members, “If you want to attend and simply listen, that’s OK too. If you want to grow as a leader, but these dates/times don’t fit into your busy schedules, the materials from each session will be available through OneDrive, our cloud storage system.”

Grow Your Own (GYO) will assist those staff members who have the desire to improve their professional standing. The program will increase exposure to contemporary topics and provide an avenue to apply leadership abilities while learning to work productively with colleagues. Participation in this program may also contribute to the required hours of district level professional development.

Meetings will be at the Logan County High School Library from 4-5:30 on the nights listed.

“If you need to arrive late or leave early, it’s be no big deal. You may attend a single session, or as many sessions that work for you,” Dr. Hub told employees. “It’ll be my job to make the sessions so exciting that you won’t want to miss. I’ve asked our school principals and district leaders to avoid scheduling meetings during the times when GYO is scheduled. They will do their best to eliminate conflicts.

“I hope you will consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Together, we can make Logan County Schools even better!”
