For the ninth straight year, the Todd County Standard was named Best Small Weekly Newspaper in the Kentucky Press Association's annual Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers contest.
The awards ceremony was held last Friday in Louisville.
The following is a list of individual awards.
Publisher Ryan Craig: First Place awards in Best Editorial, Best Column, Best Agribusiness Story, Best General News Picture, Best Sports Picture Essay, Best Editorial, Best Headline; Second Place awards in Investigative Story/Series, Lifestyle Page and Editorial.
General Manager Jenni Osborne Craig: First Place award in Best Feature Picture.
Reporter Tonya Grace:Second Place awards in Breaking News, Sports Feature and Agribusiness.
Staff also won a Second Place award in the Special Section category, and also adding to the tally were six Third Place awards and two Honorable Mentions in the contest.
In addition, for the fifth straight year, the Standard took home General Excellence in the Advertising Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers contest at the state press association's annual convention.
Individual awards included:
Graphic designer Marty Dowell won First Place in Hardware/Appliance, Real Estate, Political and Creative Use of Newspaper Promotion and Second Place in Automotive, Hardware/ Appliance, Food/Alcohol, Real Estate, Political, Agriculture/Lawn and Garden, Use of Color and Sporting Goods/Athletics.
General Manager Jenni Osborne Craig, First and Second Place in Political Advertising and First in Creative Use of Newspaper Promotion.
Publisher Ryan Craig had a First Place as well in Creative Use of Newspaper Promotion.
Former Advertising Representative Banyon Tatum had one First Place award, and other awards for Standard staff members included three Third Place awards, two Honorable Mentions and one Certificate of Merit.
