Chandlers School principal Caycee Spears has been selected to participate in the 2015-16 Leadership Institute for School Principals through the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL).

Spears, whose selection was sponsored locally by Logan Aluminum Inc., is excited about the opportunity to grow as a leader to better serve the students and families of Logan County. “We talk about continual individual and collective growth for both students and staff members at Chandlers School, and this training should ultimately benefit all of the stakeholders,” he said.

“Caycee has proven himself to be an instructional leader with a broad awareness of his students and faculty’s potential,” said Dr. Kevin Hub, superintendent of Logan County Schools. “Working with others, especially in his role as school principal, Mr. Spears has been innovative in use of staff, funds, and professional development to continually improve the climate and achievement of his students and his school. He is an effective facilitator of professional discussions and knowledgeable on many aspects of public education.”

Caycee Spears is active in professional associations that support his leadership and understanding of what it takes to be a school and district leader. He often brings ideas to the table to improve the quality of education students receive throughout the county. He welcomes the insight of others, eager to learn truly effective practices. “Caycee is a lifelong learner who seeks opportunities to grow and learn far beyond what is required,” said Hub.

A result of a strategic partnership between the CCL and the Kentucky Chamber Foundation, the sessions focus on improving education in the Commonwealth by offering school leaders executive-level leadership training that is unmatched anywhere in the state, including helping principals:

*Build a high-performance culture

*Influence others to ensure student success

*Explore how knowledge of individual strengths and developmental needs can produce positive outcomes for students, schools and communities

*Practice new behaviors for positive results

The Kentucky Chamber believes that the most powerful lever for education improvement is leadership, beginning with the school’s principal. Research shows that strong, effective leadership cascades through a school, changing the culture to one of greater collaboration, driving more effective instruction, and ultimately impacting student learning.
