Jillian McLellan and Louis Scott were the top academic award winners at the Auburn Middle School Commencement recently.
McLellan, the daughter of John and Susan Wells McLellan, was named valedictorian. Scott, the son of David and Ann Scott, was salutatorian.
Subject award winners were Hannah Cron in Math, Cody Watkins in Algebra, McLellan in Language Arts, Scott in Science, Tanner Morrow in Social Studies, Austin Mercer in Art and Brooklyn Martin in Physical Education.
Music was an integral part of the ceremony. In the performance of Trace Adkins’ “You’re Going to Miss Me,” students Kaitlyn Flatt, Taylor Gipson, Andrea Hinojoza, Brooklyn Martin, Casey Logan, Caden McKinnis, Kile Todd and Summer Thomas were soloists.
Teachers Rhonda Powell was the pianist while Mandy Beasley and Catherine Watwood were music directors.
McKinnis also offered “Words of Encouragement.”
Assistant Principal Kristina Rice made the introductions, and senior sponsors Krystal Bradford, Rebecca Engler, April Engler, Jenni Fansler and Amy Mooneyhan presented the awards.
Principal David Ward and Board Member Tim Hall presented diplomas. Class members were as follows:
