The Adairville School 8th Grade Graduation was held on Thursday evening, May 28 in the Adairville Elementary School Gymnasium, honoring 41 students and their families for reaching this milestone in their educational career.
The ceremony began with the graduates entering to “Pomp and Circumstance.” Principal Katina Kemplin welcomed the graduates and their families and introduced 8th grade student Brittany Garrett, who led the Invocation, and 8th grade student Damon Stephens, who led the Pledge to the Flag.
Middle School teacher Lori Bouldin introduced Bailey Howell and Lauren Barnes as the class co-Salutatorians. Bailey is the daughter of Jeff and Melissa Howell. Lauren is the daughter of John Mason and Gwen Barnes. Both young ladies maintained an average of 99.1 during their middle school career. Bailey and Lauren addressed their fellow graduates and those in attendance with a Salutatorian speech.
After a class video presentation, Middle School teacher Deborah Davenport presented the Jessie L. Richards Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of Jesse L. Richards, who served as the Adairville School Principal for over 22 years. The scholarship is presented annually to a former Adairville student graduating from Logan County High School who has demonstrated good character, above average scholarship, and is pursuing a degree at the college level. This year's recipient was Carley Utley. Carley is the daughter of Jamie Utley and Robert Utley.
Middle School teachers Jan Stevenson-Laurent and Tina Lynch presented the graduates their Presidential Awards. The President’s Award for Academic Achievement went to the following students who maintained an average of 90 percent or higher: Drake Baker, Connor Barnes, Haley Chambers, Shelby Byrum, Roy Flores, Christopher Goin, Anabell Hardaway, Sydnee Jones, Chloe Prince and Bailey McCaleb.
The Presidential Award for Academic Excellence went to the following students who maintained an average of 95 percent or higher: Lindsay Allen, Lauren Barnes, Olivia Bouldin, Hannah Crutchfield, Ellie Delaney, Austin Epley, Bridgett Farmer, Brittany Garrett, Bennie Guzman, Keyleigh Harlan, John Hendricks, Katie Ray Holloman, Bailey Howell, Myles Kenner, Gracie Mae Knuckles, Emma Macy, and Anna Shoulders.
Principal Katina Kemplin introduced this year’s Valedictorian, Hannah Crutchfield. Hannah maintained an average of 99.6 during her middle school career at Adairville. She is the daughter of Ed Crutchfield and Allyson Brown. Hannah addressed her fellow graduates and those in attendance with the Valedictorian speech.
Logan County Board of Education Chairman and Adairville Representative Kenny Robertson, along with Principal Katina Kemplin and Assistant Principal Doug Binkley, then presented diplomas to the following 2015 graduates from Adairville Middle School: Jachob Adams, Lindsay Allen, Drake Baker, Connor Barnes, Lauren Barnes, Olivia Bouldin, Shelby Byrum, Haley Chambers, Hannah Crutchfield, Brennan Davenport, Ellie Delaney, Bradley Dozier, Austin Epley, Bridgett Farmer, Katie Fernandez, Roy Flores, Brittany Garrett, Christopher Goin, Jonathon Guthrie, Bennie Guzman, Anabell Hardaway, Keyleigh Harlan, John Hendricks, Katie Ray Holloman, Bailey Howell, Sydnee Jones, Myles Kenner, Gracie Mae Knuckles, Kaleigh Laurent, Mark Lynch, Emma Macy, Bailey McCaleb, Jamar Morrow, Austin Pendergrass, Chloe Prince, Clayton Reagin, Anna Shoulders, Paris Spivey, Mary Beth Stanfield, Damon Stephens and Homero Vazquez.
Closing remarks were delivered by Principal Katina Kemplin and then the graduates were led in the Benediction by graduate Brennan Davenport.
