With unanimous concern surrounding the future of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System (KTRS), Senator Whitney Westerfield (R-Hopkinsville) will hold a public forum to discuss the issue on Friday, July 17 in Logan County from 2-3 p.m. at the Logan County Extension Office.

All active and retired educators are invited to weigh in with concerns, opinions and potential solutions to address the unfunded liability facing the KTRS.

“We recognize the teacher pension crisis as an issue we must address, and I wanted to let educators have a chance to speak with and hear from me directly.” Westerfield said. “There are lots of questions about KTRS, the state of the fund, and the proposals raised during the 2015 session. This forum will be an opportunity to talk about these issues here in Logan County.

“I encourage all parties interested, teachers and other taxpayers, to join the discussion on July 17.”

Sen. Westerfield represents Logan, Todd and Christian counties in the Kentucky Senate and is the Republican nominee for attorney general in this November’s General Election.
