The SBDM Council at Logan County High School has named finalists for their head principal vacancy. The three finalists, all working in Kentucky school districts currently, will interview this Thursday, Aug. 27.
The three finalists are: Stephen Ely, Charles Proffitt and Caycee Spears.
Mr. Ely is currently serving as assistant superintendent for Middlesboro Independent Schools. Prior to working in Middlesboro, he was a teacher, athletic director, assistant principal and principal in Bell County Schools.
Mr. Proffitt is currently serving as superintendent of Cloverport Independent Schools. Prior to working in Cloverport, He was a superintendent, assistant superintendent, and chief academic officer in Dawson Springs. He has worked in Logan County, serving as assistant principal in the Russellville Independent Schools from 2004 to 2006.
Mr. Spears is currently serving as principal of Chandlers School in Logan County, where he also served as assistant principal. Prior to working at Chandlers, he was a teacher at Logan County High School and a curriculum consultant working in the district office.
These three finalists were selected from a pool of nearly 20 applicants who responded to the late summer posting. The SBDM Council developed a set of selection criteria, informed in large part by the feedback from more than 400 student, parent and staff stakeholders.
The position came open when former principal Casey Jaynes resigned in late summer after accepting a central office job in Northern Kentucky
