In November, Chandlers School was re-designated as a Middle School to Watch. Chandlers previously received this honor in 2010 and again in 2011. The award is presented by The National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform.
The school was evaluated in the areas of academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity and organizational structure. Only 12 schools in Kentucky are currently recognized as Schools to Watch.
After passing through a lengthy application process, Chandlers was visited by representatives from Schools to Watch to evaluate the middle school. The representatives interviewed faculty, staff, students, and parents. They also reviewed evidence prepared by teachers and viewed students’ work.
Chandlers will be recognized in June at the National Schools to Watch conference in Washington, DC. Students and staff are extremely proud of this honor and the hard work it represents.
