Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) has announced the creation of the Southcentral Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (SKY FAME) chapter at the Franklin-Simpson Center. SKYCTC will host a recruitment event this Thursday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. at SKYCTC’s Franklin-Simpson Center, located at 175 Davis Drive, Franklin.

SKY Fame has a strong Logan County Connection. Logan Aluminum, which is located in North Logan, and Champion PetFoods, which is located between Auburn and South Union, are founding members. Gregg Head of Russellville, who heads Davert North America in Bowling Green, is the SKY Fame president.

According to SKY FAME Success Coach Kelcie Richart, “The SKY FAME chapter is a partnership of regional manufacturers whose purpose is to implement dual-track, apprenticeship-style training that will create a pipeline of highly skilled workers.”

This program will select 30 students gifted in science, technology, engineering or math. Over five semesters those selected will go to class twice a week and work for one of the company partners three days a week.

For more information on the SKY FAME program, please contact Richard at 270-901-1035 or via e-mail at  Kelcie.richart@kctcs.edu.  SKY FAME information can also be found on Facebook at www. Facebook.com/SKYFAME.AMT.

The Franklin Center is located near the intersection of I-65 and KY 100 on the Scottsville side of Franklin.

SKYCTC has the mission to improve the employability and quality of life of south central Kentucky citizens as the primary provider of: certificate, diploma, associate degree, and collegiate transfer programs; college and workforce readiness programs; workforce education and training; and adult and family literacy.
