The Logan County Farmers’ Market will hold a Year End Celebration this Saturday at the Logan County Extension Office.
Not only will regular Farmers’ Market vendors have vegetables, fruits, jellies, honey, pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, etc., but other vendors will join them with crafts and franchised merchandise. Tomatoes, candy onions, butternut squash and zucchini will be available.
Homemade soap, breads, Luluroe and essential oils will be among the offerings.
The Celebration will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Greg Noe, one of the Farmers’ Market members, will have food from Lickskillet Smokers available for purchase.
Vendors are donating items to be given as door prizes as the result of drawings throughout the day.
To see if more spaces are available for other vendors, contact Jenn Dana at 1-989=205-8175 or Linda Martin at the Extension Office, 270-726-6323.
The Logan County Farmers’ Market got off to a great start in June. It was filled with long-time producers, new vendors, patrons who have been Farmers’ Market customers for many years, and several customers who came for the first time. At its peak, 18 vendors were set up on Saturdays.
July’s heavy rains, August’s extreme heat, and a near-drought the past two months severely limited the production of vegetables, however, and the number of vendors dwindled.
The past six weeks or so have found three vendors there twice a week regularly—Dwight Grise primarily with pumpkins. Elaine Turner with vegetables and jellies, and Kris Partlow with a variety of breads and pastries. They have been joined on Saturdays regularly by Matt Dreiling with honey and eggs and on Tuesdays by Wayne Inscoe with a variety of vegetables.
Senior vouchers cannot be accepted any longer this year. WIC vouchers can be redeemed for the last time Saturday.
