Chandlers Steenvergen, Schon, Sandlin lead Class of 2017
Chandler’s School recognized the accomplishments and promotion of 46 eighth graders Friday, May 19 in the school gymnasium.
Following the student-led invocation, several students received individual honors. Award winners included Dana Boone (Citizenship), Luke Brown (Citizenship), Schon Crawford (Mathematics, Science and Social Studies), Shelby Cross (Athletics), Kendal Deen (Social Studies and Academic Team), Maggie Dukes (Perfect Attendance), Ezekiel Epley (Perfect Attendance), Zach Matthews (Athletics), Jamison McPherson (Band), Matthew Robertson (Algebra I), Elizabeth Sandlin (Art and Language Arts), and Zoe Steenbergen (Algebra I and Science).
Schon Crawford and Zoe Steenbergen were named Co-Valedictorians, and Elizabeth Sandlin was recognized as Salutatorian.
The Gold Seal Presidential Awards were given to students who had a 90% or above grade point average. Students recognized included Cole Baker, Dana Boone, Joshua Bracken, Luke Brown, Schon Crawford, Shelby Cross, Kendal Deen, Maggie Dukes, Ezekiel Epley, Logan Gipson, Chelcie Hagan, Thomas Kash, Leanna Kodiak, Ethan Lowery, Zach Matthews, Jamison McPherson, Brianna Meyer, Logan Pendleton, Mattison Reeder, Matthew Robertson, Elizabeth Sandlin, and Zoe Steenbergen.
Students who maintained a 94% or higher average in all of their seventh and eighth grade classes were recognized as Honor Students. Students recognized included Dana Boone, Joshua Bracken, Schon Crawford, Shelby Cross, Kendal Deen, Leanna Kodiak, Ethan Lowery, Zach Matthews, Matthew Robertson, Elizabeth Sandlin, and Zoe Steenbergen.
Alexis Watkins, graduating Senior at LCHS, was recognized as the 2017 recipient of the Aviles, Bush, Webb Scholarship.

The Class of 2017 dedicated the ceremony to the memory of their classmate and friend, Hunter Odom.
