Marching to Victory

The RHS Marching Band competed in the Class A State Semifinals this Saturday at Bullitt Central High School as one of the State’s top 16 Class A Bands. The Marching Panthers finished 9th in the state while marching through the muddy conditions. This group of Panthers improved on last year’s Regional score by eight points and finished as one of the highest placers in Panther Marching Band history.

The Panther Percussion team finished their marching season undefeated. The future is bright as these Senior Band Members close out their final Panther campaign. Band Director Brian Brown and Assistant Director Trevor Cardwell have numbers climbing in participation including an astounding 40+ members in the 5th Grade Band at Stevenson.

Congrats to a truly exceptional group of young men and women as well as the best leadership and community support a school could ask for!

1st Quarter Honor Roll

220 RJSHS Students made the honor roll for the 1st Quarter. All students listed had all A’s or all A’s and B’s for the first 9-week grading period. Way to GET AFTER IT Panthers!

A list of those honored is in a separate story on The LoJo. See it at http://theloganjournal.com/Stories.aspx?Article=features661

Senior Night Moved

Friday night was a rainy one and the Senior Night recognitions of the Senior football, band, and cheerleaders was postponed till this coming Friday night (Nov. 3) when the Panthers host Fort Knox in the opening round of the Class A playoffs.

Next Monday – No School

Monday, Nov. 6, students will not be in school as faculty members of RISD work on Literacy Strategies as a district.

Reality Store

This week, Russellville 8th and 10th graders will get a chance to see what life is like after they leave school. The Reality Store experience allows students from Russellville and Logan Co. to be assigned hypothetical jobs, salaries, families, and bills. Students then must manage their money, time, and resources as they travel through a set of scenarios. At each twist and turn for students, they get a feel from the many unexpected issues that come beyond the walls of the school house.

Beta Club Heads to BG to Take on the Competition

On Friday, the RHS Beta Club will take their skills to BG as the 3rd District Sr. Beta Competition happens at Hillvue Heights in Bowling Green.

Sports Happenings

Panther Football fell to Franklin Simpson in a downpour this past Friday night. The loss completed the Panther regular season with a 6-4 mark. The Panthers’ four losses came to 7-3 2A Glasgow, 10-0 4A Logan County, 6-4 1A Crittenden County, and 7-3 4A Franklin Simpson. The loss to Franklin this past week was the only loss by the Panthers in which the score difference at the end of the game was more than one TD. The Panthers open the postseason at home against Fort Knox, which is 3-7 but has won 3 of their past 4 games.

Russellville Boys and Girls Middle School Basketball teams open their seasons this coming week as they travel to Lewisburg on Thursday night.

2.     Show Respect

3.     Do the right thing.
